VeryGames have taken revenge on myDGB for their group stage loss yesterday by defeating the Slovakian-Czech team 2-0 in the semi-final of AMD Sapphire Invitational (16-9 on de_train_se, 16-7 on de_nuke_ve).
After becoming the first team besides NiP to defeat VeryGames in CS:GO, with 16-12 in their group stage opener yesterday, myDGB.net met with the French giants once again in the semi-final of the AMD Sapphire Invitational.
The first map of the clash was de_train_se, which would provide perfect grounds for battle of two of the best AWPers of the tournament, VeryGames' Kenny "kennyS" Schrub and myDGB's Ladislav "GuardiaN" Kovács.
The French team started on the CT side and immediately took control of the match, stopping attacks from myDGB for eight straight rounds, with none of them even being close. In round 9 Kovács used his AWP to finally make his team's first entry kill which led to winning their first round in this match.
A minute later Kovács' AWP was even more crucial, as he made 3 kills in a 2-on-4 situation, leaving his Czech teammate Tomáš "oskar" Šťastný in a good position to win a 1vs1, and the score soon became 8-2.
However, VeryGames put an early end to that run and they reset their opponents' money right away, going up 11-2 following Schrub's 3 kills. Last two rounds of the half went to myDGB, with Kovács putting up 3 more AWP kills in the 15th round, so the score at the half stood at 11-4.
Although they finished the half by winning four of the last seven rounds, myDGB desperately needed the second pistol round in order to stay in this map. But, another 3-kill round by VeryGames' star Schrub helped the French practically secure this map win, as they went up 14-4 with flawless anti-ecos after that pistol round.
After buying the big weapons myDGB held on for a little while, winning the next 5 rounds, which included a 2-on-4 by Šťastný and Karel "sneix" Pavlica and another clutch by Šťastný himself, a 1vs2 in the 22nd round.
As the score stood at 14-9, VeryGames opted for a fast push on the outside bombsite and Schrub once again exploded, taking out four opponents (reaching 33 kills total) and bringing his team to map point, 15-9. With a very similar strategy in the next round, VG won the map 16-9 and took a 1-0 lead in this semi-final series.

Second map was de_nuke_ve, the one on which myDGB.net came out on top in the group stage yesterday, and that certainly made them feel confident that they could stay in this series despite the first map loss.
Things started great for them, as they got to be the CTs first and they even won the pistol round. But as VeryGames often do, they bought P250s in the second round and it paid off as Kévin "Ex6tenZ" Droolans converted a 1-on-3 situation with that pistol to even the score at 1-1.
If that didn't crush the Slovakian-Czech team enough, VeryGames wouldn't let them back into the game even after dropping a round on a few occasions, going up 5-2 and 7-3. myDGB.net did manage to finish the half with a good streak, as they reduced the deficit to only one round, 8-7 in favor of VeryGames.
Once again they really needed the second half pistol round and they were well on their way to win it, but Schrub stepped up yet again and won a 1vs2 situation to put VG up 9-7 and give them money control over the second half.
A few rounds later it became apparent that myDGB won't be able to repeat their upset from earlier in the tournament, as VeryGames kept increasing their lead and completely closing out the map. In the end myDGB.net were unable to take any rounds on their T-side, so the match ended with a 16-7 win by VeryGames, and with Kenny "kennyS" Schrub again on top of the scoreboard (27:10 score).

VeryGames have therefore made their way to another grand final, where they are likely to meet their archenemy NiP, who are leading 1-0 in their series against BuyKey. That match will be played today, shortly after the other semi-final ends.
